The remedy or cleanup construction at the site began in July 2022 and was completed in October 2023. All physical construction required for the cleanup of the entire site has been completed. The site is now in the Post-Construction Completion phase of the Superfund process .

North Sanitary Landfill is a federal Superfund site in Ohio. The Superfund program, created by Congress in 1980, addresses sites where hazardous substances have been released or threaten release into the environment. EPA scores potential sites using the Hazard Ranking System; those that score high enough are placed on the National Priorities List.
