Although portions of the site are in the Operations & Maintenance Phase of the Superfund process, and have reached several cleanup milestones, EPA determined in 2013 that additional soil excavation and an expansion of the onsite groundwater treatment system were required for the remedy to be protective in the long-term.

Tar Lake is a federal Superfund site in Michigan.
