Although all known impacted homes have been addressed, investigations remain ongoing to determine the best way to address contaminated groundwater in the area. KDHE finalized the Corrective Action Decision (CAD) in December 2020.

Tri County Public Airport is a federal Superfund site in Kansas. The Superfund program, created by Congress in 1980, addresses sites where hazardous substances have been released or threaten release into the environment. EPA scores potential sites using the Hazard Ranking System; those that score high enough are placed on the National Priorities List.
Current status: Proposed for NPL. This site has been proposed for the National Priorities List but is not yet formally listed. Proposal triggers a public comment period. If listed, EPA conducts a remedial investigation to characterize contamination before selecting a cleanup approach.
